The third element of Wagner’s Ring cycle contains humour, drama and a concluding ecstasy as the eponymous hero meets his heroine Brünnhilde, setting up the explosive finale of the concluding opera. With enormous orchestral forces and dramatic use of leitmotiv themes the music portrays the full gamut of emotions and provides a perfect vehicle to display the heights of the Hallé’s powers under Elder.

Recorded at the Bridgewater Hall, capturing all the drama of the acclaimed live performance and produced by Hallé’s award winning engineer Steve Portnoi this recording features soloists of the highest calibre, cast by opera specialist Elder.

Siegfried’s Horn Call performed by Ben Goldscheider, who burst onto the musical scene at the age of eighteen in 2016 Final of the BBC Young Musician Competition. He has since been selected as BBC Music Magazine’s “Rising Star” and Gramophone Magazine’s “One to Watch”.
